At Christmas time there is a tradition of putting up the nativity.
The preparations often take weeks to complete because the cribs with moss, pine twigs, roots and ivy adorned and contain up to 1000 characters. The oldest cribs go to the 18th Century back, some figures have been carved even Schwanthaler or one of his students.
Generally, we distinguishes two types: the oriental crib and the Ebenseer landscape crib. Visitors can now enjoy a journey from crib to crib, a so-called “Kripperlroas”.
From 27 to 30.12. and 1.1. to 2.2. you can view the daily crib exhibition in the Museum Ebensee, at the great landscape nurseries and in addition a Gloeckler caps exhibition is on view.
From 25/12/2013 until 02/02/2014 approximately 9 private nurseries and the Church of Nativity are accessible.
